Mobile app

The dashboard on a phone is the same dashboard as on a desktop: same account, same orders, same settings. What changes is how you open it. On Android there is a DZBuild app on Google Play; on iPhone and iPad you install the dashboard itself as a home-screen app. Both give you push alerts for new orders.

Where to get the Android app

Three places lead to the same listing:

  • The Google Play page directly: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dzbuild.app
  • The Google Play icon in the dashboard top bar. It only appears when you browse the dashboard from an Android phone, and it is hidden once you are already inside the app.
  • The Android app card under Everything you need to run your store on /dashboard/community.

There is no separate app account and no separate app plan. The app opens the dashboard you already use, so your stores, orders and add-ons are exactly where you left them.

iPhone and iPad

There is no App Store build. On iOS you install the dashboard as a home-screen app instead:

  1. Open dzbuild.com in Safari and sign in.
  2. Tap the Share button.
  3. Choose Add to Home Screen, then confirm.

The icon that lands on your home screen opens the dashboard full screen, without the Safari address bar, and starts on /dashboard. This is the same instruction the notifications page shows on iOS, and it is also the step that makes push alerts possible on an iPhone.

The same install works on Android browsers if you would rather not use the Play Store app.

Push alerts on your phone

Push is switched on per device at /dashboard/notifications, under the app notifications row.

Inside the Android app, the first time you turn the switch on, Android asks for the notification permission. Once you allow it the switch stays on and is managed from the phone's own settings: Settings, then Apps, then DZ Build, then Notifications. If you refused earlier, the dashboard shows that note and points you to the same place. When a notification arrives while the app is open, it slides in as a banner at the top of the screen for a few seconds, and tapping it opens the page the alert refers to.

In a mobile browser, or in a dashboard you installed to the home screen, the same switch subscribes that browser and can be switched back off from there. On iPhone the switch cannot do anything until you have installed the dashboard to the home screen and opened it from the icon.

The Connected devices count on that page tells you how many browsers and phones are currently receiving alerts, so you can tell whether a second phone actually registered.

Signing in on the app

The app uses the same email and password as the website, and the same login page, so anything that blocks you on the site blocks you in the app too.

  • You signed up with Google. The app's form asks for a password. When an account is created through Google sign-in, DZBuild emails you a password. Search your inbox and your spam folder for "dzbuild". If it is nowhere to be found, use Forgot password on the login page and set a new one.
  • Two-factor is on. After the password, the app asks for your code exactly as the website does.
  • Several wrong attempts in a row. The login page then asks you to pass a captcha before it accepts another try. Wait a moment, complete the check, and sign in again.
  • The same details work in Chrome but not in the app. Open a support ticket with the email address you are using and a screenshot of the error. Screenshots, not videos.

Using more than one phone

Nothing limits you to a single device. Sessions are independent, so signing in on a second phone does not sign you out on the first, and you can keep the dashboard open on a laptop at the same time.

Every device that enables push registers on its own, which is why the Connected devices number goes up as you add phones. Turning alerts off on one phone leaves the others alone.

If several people run the store, give each of them their own login instead of sharing yours: see Team. If you own several stores, the store picker behaves in the app exactly as it does in the browser: see Multi-store.

Frequently asked

Q: Is there an iPhone version in the App Store? A: No. On iOS, install the dashboard from Safari with Add to Home Screen, as described above.

Q: Do my customers need to install anything? A: No. Your storefront opens in any phone browser. The app is for you, the merchant.

Q: The Google Play button is not in my dashboard. A: It is shown only to Android browsers, and it is deliberately hidden when you are already inside the app. From a computer or an iPhone, open the Play Store listing directly with the link above.
