Cross-Sell โ Frequently Bought Together
Category: Storefront ย ยทย Min plan: Pro ย ยทย Slug: cross-sell
After a customer places an order, the Cross-Sell add-on shows a "frequently bought together" popup with related products. The customer taps + on a product, confirms, and it is added directly to the same order โ you then confirm the addition with them by phone. Set related products per product manually, or let the add-on suggest them automatically by category and best sellers.

Featuresโ
- "Frequently bought together" popup on the order-confirmation page
- Customer adds a suggested product to the SAME order in one tap, with a confirmation step
- Quick color/size pickers for products that have options
- Set related products per product manually from a dashboard page
- Auto-relation by category, then best sellers, when none are set manually
- Cross-sell items are labeled in the orders dashboard and in Advanced Order Management
- The added product appears instantly in the order summary with a polished confirmation
- Secure by design โ the popup is tied to the order the customer just placed, with no impact on visitor sessions
- Fail-safe โ it never blocks an order or the confirmation page
What it doesโ
This is a post-purchase upsell, not a cart upsell. The customer has already confirmed their order, so there is nothing left to lose: the suggestion appears on the confirmation page, under the order summary, styled with your store's own brand colour.
Each suggested product carries a + button. Tapping it opens a small confirmation window that tells the customer, in your store's language, that the product will be added directly to their current order and that you will confirm with them shortly. If the product has options, quick color/size pickers appear right there; a quantity stepper lets them pick 1 to 50 pieces. On confirm, the product is appended as a new line on the existing order.
How suggestions are chosenโ
The add-on fills the popup in this order, and stops as soon as it has enough products:
- Your manual links โ the related products you set for the ordered products, in the order you arranged them.
- Same category โ other products sharing a category with what was ordered (only if Auto-relate is on).
- Best sellers โ your top-selling products (only if Auto-relate is on, and only if slots remain).
Products already in the order are always excluded, and so are hidden products, inactive products, and stock-tracked products that are out of stock โ the popup never suggests something the customer cannot receive.
Turn Auto-relate off if you only want the exact pairings you chose by hand. With it off, a product with no manual links simply shows no popup.
Benefitsโ
- Higher average order value with zero extra ad spend. The traffic is already paid for and the customer has already converted โ every accepted suggestion is pure incremental revenue.
- No extra delivery cost per added item. The added product joins the existing order, so the order keeps its single shipping fee instead of becoming a second delivery.
- One phone call instead of two. You are already calling to confirm the order, so confirming the added item costs you nothing extra โ a natural fit for cash-on-delivery selling in Algeria.
- Works even if you never configure anything. With auto-relation on, the popup fills itself from your categories and best sellers from day one.
- Full traceability. Every item the customer appended is labeled, so you always know which revenue came from cross-selling.
How to activateโ
- Open Dashboard โ Add-ons at
/dashboard/addons. - Find Cross-Sell โ Frequently Bought Together under Storefront.
- Click Activate. The add-on requires the Pro plan or higher โ on the Free plan the card stays locked and activation is refused.
- Click Settings on the card to open the management page at
/dashboard/cross-sell.
Cross-Sell is paused on the digital theme. Digital stores deliver files instantly and have their own confirmation flow, so the card shows a paused state. Nothing is uninstalled โ your links and settings are kept and come back the moment you switch to a physical-goods theme.
Using itโ
The settings cardโ
At the top of /dashboard/cross-sell:
- Auto-relate โ a toggle. When on, products with no manual links still get suggestions (same category first, then best sellers). On by default.
- Maximum suggested products โ how many products the popup may show, from
1to8. Default4. - Save settings โ applies both immediately.
Three counters sit under the settings card: your total number of products, how many of them have suggestions set, and the total number of links you have created.
Setting related products per productโ
- The table lists your products, 20 per page, newest first. Archived products are not listed.
- Search by product name or SKU.
- The Suggested products column shows the current links as small chips with their thumbnails. Products with no links show a note, plus a hint that they will be suggested automatically when Auto-relate is on.
- Click Manage on a row to open the picker. Search for products by name, click to select, and the chosen products appear as chips. You can pick up to 12 products per product; the popup then shows the first ones up to your Maximum suggested products setting.
- Click Save in the picker. The new links appear on the row straight away.
What the customer seesโ
- They complete checkout and land on the order-confirmation page.
- The "Frequently bought together" strip appears under the order summary, with a + on each product.
- Tapping + opens the confirmation window with the price, the options pickers if the product has variants, a quantity stepper, and the exact amount that will be added.
- On confirm, an animated confirmation shows the amount added and the new order total, and the product is inserted into the order summary right away with an "Added" mark.
On your sideโ
The appended item shows up on your Orders page with a Cross-sell chip on the order detail and order edit screens โ and in Advanced Order Management if you use it โ so you can tell at a glance which lines the customer added themselves. Your order total is recalculated automatically from all its items, keeping the same shipping fee and any discount already applied.
Confirm the added item by phone like the rest of the order. The customer added it on their own from the confirmation page, so it will not have been discussed during your usual call script unless you raise it.
FAQโ
Does adding a product create a second order? No. The product is appended as a new line on the order that was just placed, and the order total is recalculated. The customer keeps one order, one delivery and one shipping fee.
How long can a customer keep adding products? Additions are accepted for up to 2 hours after the order was placed, and only while the order is still open โ an order already set to delivered, cancelled or returned refuses new additions.
What if I never set any related products? With Auto-relate on, the popup still works: it suggests products from the same category as what was ordered, then falls back to your best sellers. With it off, no suggestions are shown for that product.
Does it show on landing pages too? No. The popup runs on the store's order-confirmation page after a storefront checkout. Orders placed through landing pages have their own confirmation flow and do not show it.
Can the popup break my checkout? No. The add-on is fail-safe by design: if anything goes wrong it simply renders nothing. The order itself and the confirmation page are never blocked.
