# International cards through Stripe

The Stripe row of the **Online payment gateways** table is for merchants whose company is registered outside Algeria and who connect their own Stripe account.

Buyers see the tile **International card Visa / Mastercard** and pay on a secure payment page, in dinars (DZD). The money lands in your own Stripe account.

## Create a restricted key

1. In your Stripe dashboard, open **API keys** and press **Create restricted key**.
2. Give it exactly these permissions: **Checkout Sessions: Write**, **Webhook Endpoints: Write**, **Balance: Read**. Leave the others off.
3. Create the key and copy it. A live key starts with `rk_live_`, a test key with `rk_test_`.

## Connect it

1. Open **Settings › Payment methods** and press **Connect account** on the Stripe row (market: **Outside Algeria**).
2. Paste the key and press **Test and connect**.

If the test says the key works but Stripe could not set up the notifications, add the **Webhook Endpoints: Write** permission to the key and test again.

The mode follows the key: a `rk_test_` key stays in test mode and is never offered to buyers. Test with it if you want, then choose **Switch to live mode** in the row's menu, paste your `rk_live_` key and test again.

## Switch it on for buyers

After a successful live test, turn on **For customers** and pick the pages: **Cart**, **Fast checkout**, **Landing pages**.

## Good to know

* Stripe takes its fees from what you receive; your rates are in your Stripe account.
* When you edit the key, the window shows only its last four characters. Leave the field empty to keep the current key.
* Refunds are made in your Stripe dashboard. See [Refunds](https://dzbuild.com/docs/payments/refunds.md).
* **Disconnect account** asks you to confirm, stops card payment and removes the key; you paste it again to reconnect.
* Only the store owner can paste or change the key.
